I am Fr. Clement T. Davis, now serving as Senior Associate Pastor of St. Bartholomew Parish. My previous assignment was as Pastor of St. Bartholomew, a post that I first took up on the 1st of August, 1997. While I came to Columbus with fear and trepidation in obedience to Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein, who sent me to assist the Catholic Community of Columbus to complete the melding of two parishes into the single parish of St. Bartholomew. All these years I have been blessed to have worked with great men and women of this community, people of faith and determination and of great openness to newcomers to this community, many coming from other continents and cultures.
I was born and raised in Chicago, where I lived till age 7, when we moved from an apartment into a newly built trilevel home in a NW suburb, River Grove. My parents lived there from 1950 to 1980, when my dad retired and they moved to Mountain Home, AR, where they joined my mom’s mother, two brothers and their wives and a sister and her husband. After my father’s death in 1986, mom lived there in her own home, until she decided to come to Columbus, where she lived until her death in 2009. My sister Donna married a grade-school classmate of mine, and they had three sons, all of them now married and having provide them with two grandsons and six granddaughters.
I’ve made Columbus my home for life, and now I live just down the road from St. Bartholomew, so I have a short commute to church, school, and office. It is my pleasure to share with Fr. Chris and Fr. Ashok in the pastoral care of our Catholic community in Bartholomew County.
Soy el padre Clement T. Davis, y actualmente me desempeño como párroco asociado principal de la parroquia de San Bartolomé. Mi anterior función fue la de párroco de San Bartolomé, puesto que asumí por primera vez el 1 de agosto de 1997. Llegué a Columbus con temor y temor, en obediencia al arzobispo Daniel M. Buechlein, quien me envió para ayudar a la comunidad católica de Columbus a completar la fusión de dos parroquias en la única parroquia de San Bartolomé. Nací y crecí en Chicago, donde viví hasta los 7 años, cuando nos mudamos de un apartamento a una casa de tres niveles recién construida en un suburbio del noroeste, River Grove. Mis padres vivieron allí desde 1950 hasta 1980, cuando mi padre se jubiló y se mudaron a Mountain Home, Arkansas, donde se unieron a la madre de mi madre, dos hermanos y sus esposas y una hermana y su esposo. Después de la muerte de mi padre en 1986, mi madre vivió allí en su propia casa, hasta que decidió venir a Columbus, donde vivió hasta su muerte en 2009. Mi hermana Donna se casó con un compañero mío de la escuela primaria y tuvieron tres hijos, todos ellos ahora casados y habiendo dado a luz a dos nietos y seis nietas.
He hecho de Columbus mi hogar para toda la vida, y ahora vivo a la vuelta de la esquina de Saint Bartholomew, por lo que tengo un viaje corto a la iglesia, la escuela y la oficina. Es un placer para mí compartir con el padre Chris y el padre Ashok el cuidado pastoral de nuestra comunidad católica en el condado de Bartholomew.
