Our community has been greatly affected by suicide. An estimated 13.9 million U.S. adults have serious thoughts of suicide. Roughly 4.9 million adults have made a specific suicide plan. Approximately 2.3 million adults have made a suicide attempt. Men account for roughly 76% of suicide deaths in the U.S. and are about four times more likely to die by suicide than women. Suicide remains a leading cause of death for young people, ranking as a top cause for ages 10-24. We will hold a QPR training session before the holidays, and we will meet with mental health professionals in our parish community to discuss how best to address community mental health needs. If you or a loved one is in need of help, call 988 to reach the Suicide Hotline or text HOME to 741741 to be connected to the Crisis Hotline via text.
