Saint Bartholomew Parish has been blessed with many talented musicians who regularly minister at Masses, various church services and functions, including performing occasionally in concerts. In order to join one of our choirs, please contact Dr. Bogdan Minut, Director of Music Ministry.
St. Bartholomew Concert Series was inaugurated in September 2006. Each season, the Concert Series presents monthly recitals and concerts, from September through May. The multitude of music styles present in our concerts reflects the parish’s diverse membership as well as its general appreciation for music. Our concerts feature local and regional musicians, including talented artists and parish ensembles, as well as guest artists from around the world.
Our Concert Series can only take place through the support of generous Patrons and through the hard work of many volunteers. This support is essential for the existence and the success of our series because we strive to offer free admission for the vast majority of our events. Free-will donations are always welcome and will support our Music Ministry.
Over the years, our parish has been blessed with a select group of talented singers who minister at Masses and special celebrations as cantors/psalmists.
Basic musicianship (music reading and vocal technique) is desired.
A special program for the youth of our parish is offered. Young Cantors are typically selected from our Children's Choir, School Groups, and Stained Glass.

The Men’s Ministry Choir serves at the 5:00 pm Saturday Mass every other weekend. Throughout their activity, the Men's Ministry Choir has ministered at Parish Reconciliation Services, during Holy Week (Good Friday Services), on Easter Sunday, and as part of the Concert Series. The Mass on Thanksgiving Day has been one of their favorite, because it brings their family members together in song.
Their musical style tends to be folk music with touches of traditional hymn singing. Lately, the men have sung many selections in harmony, blending their voices and instruments in song to praise the Lord. Open to any men in the parish who can sing or play an instrument.
PRACTICE:
Thursday (before their Saturday Mass) from 7-9 pm

The St. Bartholomew Choir sings classical and traditional choral repertoire along with hints of contemporary numbers and arrangements. This ensemble's goal is to provide excellence in liturgical music. Its members continue to learn vocal and choral techniques from professional musicians and guest directors and singers as well as to collaborate with other choirs and participate in choir events.
In addition to ministering at weekend Masses on a weekly basis, on solemnities, and on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday, the Choir has participated in many successful choral concerts as part of our parish's concert series.
Membership is open to anyone who is willing to commit to the regular schedule of the choir and who possesses basic music knowledge and vocal abilities.
Past highlights include a concert appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York City under the direction of Maestro John Rutter in June 2014 and a Musical Pilgrimage to Rome and the Vatican in November 2016.
In Rome, they sang in St. Peter's Basilica for Pope Francis together with the Sistine Chapel Choir at both the Papal Consistory for the elevation of seventeen new Cardinals and the Papal Mass on Christ the King, marking the closing of the Holy Year of Mercy. The choir also sang at a special Mass at the church of St. Bartholomew on the Tiber Island in Rome, which holds the relics of St. Bartholomew the Apostle. Forty six pilgrims formed our parish group, of which twenty nine were singers in the choir. The choir's pilgrimage through the Holy Doors at St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican is recorded here.
The Brass Choir ministers on important church feast days, such as Christmas, Easter, and Christ the King. They will typically join the St. Bartholomew Choir or a quartet of cantors.
This ensemble has also performed at special events, such as the Concert Series.
This ensemble is open to trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba players from our parish who possess intermediate and advanced musical skills.

This choir’s Mission is to teach parish children the language of music and artistic expression within the context of the Catholic Christian community of faith.
From August to May, the Children's Choir practices weekly and serves once or twice per month at Masses and special events, such as the Children’s Christmas Mass, First Communion Masses, and the Concert Series. Our young singers come to choir ready to share their vocal talents in the mission of spreading the word of God. Given the function of this ensemble, learning the sacred music repertoire is a priority.
Membership is open (non-auditioned) to boys and girls of our parish in grades third through eighth. Our young choristers learn about proper singing techniques, vocal care, reading music, and fresh repertoire appropriate to this age range.
Parents are instrumental for the success of our Children’s Choir program. We rely on parents of choir members to encourage their children’s participation in our choir’s activities, as well as to provide snacks and supervision. Parents sign-up for dates when they get actively involved with the choir.
PRACTICE: Thursdays, 3:00-4:20 pm
The music ensembles (school bands) from Saint Bartholomew School serve at most school Masses on Thursday mornings, some weekend Masses, and on special occasions.
